FIERCE Women
FIERCE Women seeks to change the narrative on how survivors access workplace protections — shifting the story from “leave your job to be safe” to “stay safe AND stay employed.” Leveraging AI to make employment protections visible and actionable, FIERCE Women is building a movement for survivors to stay safe and stay employed.
The Problem
- 80% of U.S. population lives in a state with at least one employment protection that addresses the impacts of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
- 71% of women are unaware these protections exist
- 85% of women cite economic security as a reason for staying with an abusive partner
How FIERCE Women Responds
In partnership with Uplevyl, Fenton Communications, and Legal Momentum, FUTURES is developing an AI tool that:
- Translates complex employment laws into clear, survivor-centered guidance.
- Builds on a secure, gender-intelligent AI infrastructure, the tool centralizes protections from all 50 states and territories.
- Delivers personalized information that women can share with employers to access leave, reasonable accommodations, and anti-discrimination protections.

Through a narrative change campaign led by Fenton Communications, we are reframing how survivors are entitled to safety, stability, and respect.
FUTURES and Legal Momentum will provide training for state and local enforcement agencies, webinars with employer-facing partners, employer and workforce systems, and sector-specific intensives. This will be coupled with continuing legal education training certification for employment and legal aid attorneys.
Current Efforts
FUTURES is working with Uplevyl to create the AI employment rights tool to be operational by September 2026.
